Domain market have come to invade bloggers. Short and English word domain name with high traffic are sold at a high price. Since good blogs generates heavy traffic, domain marketeers buy blogs for a decent amount of money.
There have been some notable blog sales, and one of the primary way of evaluating the price of a blog is the number of its subscribers. On average, people are paying to buy blogs for 25-35 dollars per subscriber.

I do think that this is a wrong way of evaluating how much is a site worth. If you asked me why, it is because one can easily increase it number of subscribers by creating dummy email addresses and subscribing each of those email addresses into their feeds.
I think that the value of a site is dependent not only to its subscribers but also to its rank such as alexa rank, technorati rank, page rank, and others.

Yes, there are more valuation tools that can be used to determine how much a site is worth. Cheers!
